Hello to all you Jam Night fans !

Jam Night at The Middlesex Arms has proved to be very popular over the years. However, in recent weeks we have seen numbers dwindling fairly dramatically. Due to these decreasing numbers, the Jam Night is now under threat. So, we want to see more and more musos ( yes that means you ) joining in, so that the Jam Night is preserved for everyone to carry on performing their favourite music every week.

Jam Night

Don’t forget, the drums, amps, mics etc. are all there waiting for you to use.  So you don’t need to lug any gear about   – y’see, there’s just no excuse whatsoever for not dropping in – is there ?

So don’t forget, it’s on every Thursday 9.15 till 11.30 !  So grab your guitar, bass, vocal chords or whatever, come down and get up and jam !  … All musicians are welcome … any standard … any style  – Not suitable for children – way past their bed-time ( and mine, come to that ) ! !

The Middlesex Arms does a wide range of drinks and good food too – all at competitive prices !  And there’s no charge for the Jam Night either –  Free entry.   So what are you waiting for ?  Just grab your favourite axe and come and join in the fun … bring your friends … every Thursday at The Middlesex Arms.  ” Marvellous !

… In the meantime, why not remind yourself of the great music and great fun you can have at Jam Night … have a look at the video footage and photos – Just click on Photos & Videos above !

Remember … this is your Jam Night so come and support it.  As the old saying goes,  ” use it or lose it ! ”

See you soon.   Cheers,  Rob.

Hello everyone.

The old Waddington’s Subbuteo HQ ( now a Hotel )

Having made a hasty retreat from the snow on our last visit a few weeks ago, Rosie and I re-visited Tunbridge Wells this week.  Although the weather wasn’t what you’d ideally expect from mid-May, at least this time it wasn’t chucking it down with rain … or snow !

We also visited the surrounding villages of Langton Green, Penshurst, Paddock Wood and Chiddingstone Causeway, all of which have a Subbuteo connection. We finished off with a coffee in Edenbridge Costas before making the journey home.

So, a really nice couple of days away. The lady in Tourist Information was very nice and helped us find our accommodation, a really nice B&B just on the West edge of Tunbridge Wells.  So, if you’re looking for scenic countryside and quaint villages, you could do a lot worse than visit the Tunbridge Wells area.

BFN,   Rob.

Hello everyone.

Jam Nights are still going strong on Thursdays. Last night’s attendance was a little bit down on the usual numbers but last week it was positively heaving !  You just can’t tell can you ! ? !

Snowy Tunbridge Wells !

Anyway, last Monday, Rosie and I ventured down to the Garden of England for a couple of days away. Tunbridge Wells was our precise destination. However, Mr. Sod turned up ( as in ‘ law of ‘ ) in the guise of snow storms !  With snow all Monday afternoon and night, and into the morning as well, we beat a hasty retreat for home to avoid getting snowed in !  I suppose if there’s any moral to this story it’s this : ‘Go to Tunbridge Wells in the Summer ! ! ‘ …which is exactly what we intend to do !  Oh well, at least we had quite a nice evening at the hotel !

Jam Nite returns !

Hello to all you Jam Nite fans out there.

After a six week Christmas / New Year holiday,  Jam Nite returns this coming Thursday 7th February. So get down to the Middlesex Arms and join in the fun. The Jam Nite house band will be there – Gavin, Lenny, Mac and myself, look forward to seeing you !

BFN,  Rob.

Alan and John battle it out, while Rob refs !

Hello everyone.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year.

Now, I’m sure you thought I’d be starting off 2013, talking about music. Well, you’d be wrong, although I will be moving swiftly on to the subject in due course. But first, over the last few weeks or so, I’ve taken up a hobby which I thought I’d left behind for good, some years ago – Subbuteo Table Football !  With my knees restricting real football participation, Subbuteo Football, is turning out to be a sort of football substitute, having been un-packed and put in place to take over the dining table.  Yes, Subbuteo football has returned to my list of regular activities, after a gap of thirty years or so.

I’ve even started playing regular league matches with a bunch of like-minded chaps ( plus the odd one who sadly, doesn’t know how to behave, despite being old enough to know better  – well, there’s always one I suppose ! )   Anyway, to give you the flavour of what it’s all about, especially to the uninitiated, you can see edited highlights (very edited, as it turns out ) from a league game between John v Rob on 3rd Dec 2012 by clicking on this link. I’m sure you’ll find it amusing !

Anyway … musical things !  I’ve been recording a few bits and pieces recently – nothing that’s taken too much shape really !  And, of course, Jam Night is still on holiday, but is due back at the Middlesex Arms on Thursday 7th February. Hope to see loads of faces, old and new !

Until next time,  BFN,  Rob.

“Happy New Year”

Hello !

Well, that’s Christmas gone … flashed by for another year !  Hope you had a good time and that Santa brought you the presents you wanted.

So now it’s time to wish you all a Happy NewYear, with the help of this wonderful New Year video clip … hope you enjoy it !

See you soon, BFN,  Rob.

Hi Folks !

Last night’s Jam Night at the Middlesex Arms was the last one of 2012.

The last Jam Night of 2012

As per usual, everyone who was there had a good time. A shame a few more didn’t get down, but then I suppose it was a bit on the cold and frosty side, wasn’t it ? !  Anyway, I captured a few moments from last night on camera, the results of which can be seen on this very website. You may well see yourself if you click on  Jam Night 13/12/2012 Photos & Videos, which are now showing.  Hope it keeps you all interested enough, during the Christmas break,  to come back when it all starts up again on 7th February 2013.  If you haven’t been down to Jam Night lately, that could be a good time to make an appearance. So, hope to see you then. In the meantime, Happy Christmas and Happy New Year.

BFN,  Rob.

“Merry Christmas”

Yes everyone, Christmas is here again. Merry Christmas to you all.

For all you Jam Night fans out there, make a note in your diaries ( in indelible ink, of course) : The last Jam Night of 2012 will be on 13th December. The first one of 2013 will be on 7th February. From then onwards, Jam Night will be on every Thursday, as you’ve all come to expect  – Marvellous !

In the meantime,  to help get you in the  Christmas spirit,

click on this link        … “It’s Christmas” …      my video clip is now showing !

Season’s greetings from me, Gavin, Mac and Lenny, have a great Christmas and New Year and we’ll see you all next week for this year’s last Jam Night and again in February for the re-start !

Cheers,   Rob.

Hello everyone.

Well, it’s been a little while since I last wrote. So, here’s the latest !

I’ve been continuing with my appearances at the Thursday Night Jam Nights at The Middlesex Arms – yes folks, it’s still on – Every Thursday !  So come down and join in.

QPR on the attack on the Subbuteo table !

I’ve also been doing a bit of recording here and there too. So nothing you wouldn’t expect me to be involving myself in really.

But, believe it or not, after thirty five years ( or whatever it is ), the Subbuteo is back out. Yes folks, flicking little plastic men round a table, kicking a little plastic ball, is what I’ve been up to lately. I’ve come full circle, as I used to play a lot before my Sunday morning league football days started. Now I can’t play anymore, the Subbuteo is back – and I’m even in a league too. But, more of all that next time when you’ve recovered from the shock.

Oh well, that’s it for now. Time to get flicking again.    BFN, Rob.

Hello again.

Me and Rosie went socialising again last Saturday evening. We went to Marc’s 50th Birthday party, with a halloween theme. Great to see Marc and Karen again – thanks for a really enjoyable evening.

Marc, an Arsenal fan, is being treated to QPR v Reading on Saturday as a birthday treat. Sounds more like a trick than a treat !  Anyway, hope it’s a good game.

BFN,   Rob.
